Despite being relatively thin, the V5-571 packs an Intel Core i5-3317U dual-core processor (1.7GHz, up to 2.6GHz Turbo Boost), 6GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. With 15.6” glossy 720p display (1366×768 resolutions) this has a design less than one inch thin and gets over five hours of battery life.

It’s an Intel Core i5 3317U chip clocked at 1.7GHz which may seem low, but it can Turbo Boost itself to a whopping 2.7GHz under heavy strain. There’s a 128GB SSD drive supplied as standard, as well as an SD card slot, which can offer up to 64GB more. The 11.6” Sony Vaio Duo 11 embodies a sliding tablet design.

The 15” HP Envy 6 Sleekbook has an AMD CPU with a 2.1GHz AMD A6-4455M APU processor, the machine is complimented by a 4GB, 667MHz DDR3 RAM. A graphical chipset of AMD Radeon HD 7500G is well enough for this sleekbook. Great design for a great price, and includes Beats Audio and decent graphics.

The Z930-10X has a 13.3” LED matt display, (with 1366×768 resolution) weighs in at just 1.2Kg thanks to the magnesium alloy chassis. Its Ivy Bridge Core i5 processor runs at 1.7GHz (2.6GHz with Turbo Boost) backed up with a healthy 6GB of RAM and 128GB solid-state drive. It is supported by Intel HD 4000 graphics.
8. Samsung 900X4C: £1099.99 – samsung.com
Samsung is equipped with the 15″ laptop with a 1600 x 900 Pixel (HD+) display. The non-glare surface and the extremely bright LED (backlit) panel is perfectly suited for outdoor viewing. It has 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD , Intel HD 4000 Graphics and Windows 8 (64-bit) and Bluetooth make it great; and its battery does well too.

10. Samsung Chromebook: £219.27 – amazon.co.uk
This one has an ARM processor and there’s only 2GB of RAM in the new Chromebook, but in general usage, it never feels underpowered. The screen size and resolution – 11.6”, 1,366 x 768 pixels – are perfectly good, though the quality is distinctly lacklustre, this model is good and for lots of people, it would be perfectly sufficient.
