Facebook brings you V.I.P App for Celebrity
Celebs such as Rihanna, JLO and Shakira will soon be getting their own Facebook V.I.P app according to All Things D.
The app will only be accessible to celebrities or their handlers. The app will let celebrities monitor their Facebook fan gossip about them on a mobile device. They will then be able to reply back to fans immediately and joining the conversation.
It’s early day for the project which is been tested now. The app is a push from Facebook to encourage celebrities to share more stuff on the site. This is a way for Facebook to compete directly with Twitter for “public” sharing.
The app will make it easier for the celebs to see the review from fans a post like Kobe Bryant’s late-night torrent of scattered thoughts quicker and able to reply instantly.
A Facebook spokesman said “We are currently testing some mobile features designed to help public figures interact with their fans,” and that they are “testing these features with a small group of partners and will share more details should we roll it out more widely.”
This will be beneficial for Facebook as it could use more user/celeb engagement (such as when Channing Tatum and his wife released their 1st baby photo on Facebook instead of with the tabloids).
Twitter, by contrast, makes it far easier for celebs to monitor their fans’ chatter, with the ability to quickly scan down a column of @replies from fans and to respond in kind.
Although Facebook has recently introduce new features such hastags, embedded posts and trend topics to response to twitter rapid rise.
